Abstract

L’articolo ripercorre le riflessioni di Jonathan Franzen su letteratura, nuovi media e società contemporanea, collegandole ad altre di David Foster Wallace e Karl Kraus. L’intento è delineare il posizionamento di Franzen, e secondariamente di Wallace, rispetto ad alcuni nodi del presente e, congiuntamente, nella tradizione letteraria della modernità.

The article presents Jonathan Franzen’s reflections on literature, the new media, and contemporary society, connecting them to other reflections by David Foster Wallace and Karl Kraus. The aim is to outline Franzen’s and (secondary) Wallace’s stances towards some contemporary issues and, at the same time, the way they position themselves in modern literary tradition.
